Wardsville has a history of hospitality.

History.  Wardsville was one of the earliest settlements in the area.  George Ward, innkeeper played a central role in the War of 1812.  Village and area has long-time residents who are keepers of the stories, traditions, arts, and culture.   Though decayed, there is still a downtown with some heritage buildings remaining.

Hospitality

Wardsville has been a centre of hospitality since its beginnings as a white settlement.  Wardsville Golf Club carries on this tradition as do the seniors’ homes.  Tracing the history of hospitality in the area may re-introduce new ideas for marketing and business opportunity.

We got landscape, heritage, and a great golf course.

Image.  Wardsville is associated with Wardsville Golf Club, a well-known and appreciated course in southwestern Ontario. The quiet, scenic village has the first bit of rolling landscape encountered when traveling from Windsor.  Some enjoy the view of Wardsville from the south side of the river, which brings Brigadoon to mind.

Wardsville has never strategically exploited many attractive assets for the purpose of rebuilding the community or marketing. Think of: important Carolinian woodlands and unique trees.  A heritage river. Rare birds. War of 1812.  Fishing and canoeing. Genealogy and story telling.  Fresh vegetables.  Good farmland and climate.
