Battle of the Longwoods: What the cairn says.

Here was fought the Battle of Longwoods 4th March 1814. United States forces were entrenched on this hill. The British losses were Capt. D. Johnson and Lieut. P Graeme and 12 men of the Royal Scots Light Company and the 89th Light Company killed. 52 officers and men of these companies and the Loyal Kent Volunterers wounded.
